Mia HAmm Innovation WHQ

The renovation of the south lobby, basement, and first and second floors of the Mia Hamm building came about to co-locate the Innovation team in one building. The goal was to open up the workspaces and create collaboration across the various functions within Innovation. As with all tenant improvement construction projects, my responsibilities as the Brand project manager were to work cross-functionally within the WD+C project team to coordinate all brand elements within budget and integrate them into the construction schedule. There were several brand moments throughout this space, but the four brand moments pictured here required additional attention to detail and could not have been executed without trusted fabrication partners.

The five-story Phil Knight quote, “Always listen to the voice of the athlete.” was executed using track and field relay batons and was successfully installed over one weekend in December.

The handpainted Bill Bowerman quotes on the concrete wall were executed by Jason Prouty, a local sign painter, and artist.

The large custom coffee table made out of Nike footwear molds was an engineering anomaly from its sheer weight to getting it from the loading dock to its final resting place on the second floor and could not have been done without Axiom Custom Design builds.

The custom collaboration booths were created using reclaimed basketball floors and the partnership with Orange Wall Architectures proved vital when determining sizing, weight, and orientation of the basketball court floor.

The custom tile idea came up late in the design process so Brand was asked to handle find the tile and coordinate the vendor with the general contractor.
