LAHQ Building Relocation

The project brief was to create the west coast energy of sport and culture. Tell the stories that paint the brilliance of Angeleno culture and the future of sports in the city of athletes. This was no small feat in and of itself but also happened during the middle of a global pandemic.

Above the reception desk is a sculpture created from footwear donated by LA athletes, along with the stories of why these shoes are important to them. Donations were interupted due to Covid-19 pandemic, but the sculpture will eventually contain 146 pairs of shoes and stories, donated by professional athletes and employees.

Throughout the space are artist executions from artists that have a connection to the city and have grown up with the Brand. Artists include local gradient artist Ben Sanders, Gabe Gault, Hueman and Mister Cartoon.

The key unique elements that I brought to this project to make it successful were my conncetions to the industry and relationships with execution partners. This was critical as we had to rely on our local team and vendors to execute everthing since we were not able to travel. and finger on the pulosehaving the foresight to realize we need additional design partners within the RFP process. One of the two agencies I added to the RFP, won the award, Hotel Creative. Through Nike creative direction and Hotel’s incredibly talented team, the brand stories resonate Nike LA.

I leveraged my Nike connections with the Promo warehouse and our last factory in Mexico to fill the gap of footwear for the sculpture due to the fact that athletes were “locked down” within their bubbles. Without my contatcts we would not have been able to expedite footwear lasts to complete the sculpture before the factories were closed.
